It’s amazing, this time of year is supposed to be one where we give goodwill towards each other. We’re supposed to be super kind and friendly to everyone. How it amazes me that that entire concept has gone out the door. People are really rude. I realize that yes, this season is stressful, but does that mean a person needs to take it out on everyone they come in contact with? I dunno, it really ticks me off when people are unnecessarily rude and unpleasant to me, and there was a lot of that this weekend. And not the usual lack of pleases and thankyous, this was bitchy ranting about silly little things. One lady even whipped out the “Well I know your store manager” ploy. Three times. As much as people try to intimidate me because they’re grouchy, not gonna work. I just smiled, and apologized again.
Perhaps yes, I’m coming off grouchy myself at the time, but it’s unavoidable when people say some not so nice things about when, when all you’re doing is trying to do is still be nice to them and help them out. I don’t hold any of that grouchyness against anyone, but it would be nice if people could be nice in return. So please, to everyone out there who is doing their christmas shopping this time of year: Please don’t take your stress out on store employees! We’re trying to help you, not make your life hell as you seem to make out. Taking your stress out on us may be a stress relief for you, but when you have to deal with hundreds of people taking their stress out on you, can you imagine how stressed we get? And yet we still keep our calm. Even a sincere thank you, would make a world of difference.
Went to the cottage yesterday, was good ๐ Actually got to see what Point Roberts looks like. It’s funny, there’s a street that goes right along the Canada-US border. On the Canada side, there are these really expensive condos (Tswassen is a really expensive place to live!) and the on US side, was all these cottages that are worth about 1/3 of the price! It’s really interesting to see how the roads on the Point Roberts side at one point must have gone into Canada at one point, but now there are fences across. Oh well, it’s fun to have a cabin in the US, despite my confusion with mph ๐ But still, when 80% of the land is owned by Canadians, it seems a little silly to call it American.
Now I’m just rambling. My coherence hasn’t returned yet.
