• Prompt: Revolution

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, CreamSodaAngel)

This one is based on my Sailor Moon fanfiction, which I’m currently renovating. While I had the entire first story arc planned out, I’ve only written the first 2 chapters. This scene I’ve had in my head for a while. The reason why the prompt ‘Revolution’ made me think of this is because one of the songs that goes with my fanfic is ‘Revolution Song’ by Fefe Dobson.

Warning if you want to read my fanfic in the future, this contains spoilers.

Her head throbbed in a way Karei had never felt before. It was like her skull was being split open, or perhaps she’d bashed it against a cement wall really really really hard? Whatever it was, it hurt like crazy.

Opening one eye, the redhead tried to get a sense of where she was. Karei was glad that it was dark in the room, she wasn’t sure if the light would make the pain in her head feel worse or feel better – best not to risk it. Slowly she tried to pick herself up off the floor. It took a great deal of effort as all her muscles screamed out in pain.

    What the hell happened?

Getting to her feet she managed to get a better picture of where she was. It was a dark room, everything dressed in black or grays. Most definitely a bedroom of sorts, as there was a large be with a puffy looking, gray satin comforter on top. Karei couldn’t help muse that whoever lived in this room had a really gloomy sense of style.

There was what looked to be a window in the corner. She couldn’t see outside quite well, because the darkly lacquered shuttered were closed. Wandering over to them, Karei popped the lock and pushed them wide opened. The first thing Karei noticed was a flare up of her fear of heights – she must have been 50 stories above the ground!!

Gulping her fear down best she could, Karei scanned the horizon to get a better baring of where she was – there was a large village down below that stretched as far as she could see. The bizarre thing was that there was nobody in the streets, no activity… was it abandoned? The sky was a dark sapphire blue, it must have been evening. There was a full moon hanging brightly with the stars twinkling around it.

And then Karei faltered… was that Earth? Next to the Moon was Earth. It was darkened, but Karei could see millions of twinkling lights on it. Where am I!?

“Beautiful isn’t it?” A deep voice suddenly whispered in her ear, making Karei jump in fright. She turned around quickly to see a tall man with raven hair and deep crimson eyes. Then it all came back to her.. it was Ionite.

“Send me back, now!” Karei demanded, remembering the attempts to flood her with negative energy to manipulate her, to get her to join their cause. That’s why her head hurt so much.

Ionite scowled, not the an answer he wanted. He grabbed her shoulders firmly and slammed her against the wall with force. “No, you’re going to be my empress and rule this land, the Moon, the Universe by my side!”

Karei brought her knee up, intending to knee him in the groin, but he was faster than she and managed to grab the knee before it colided. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me,” He said with a smirk as he slammed her leg away before reasserting his grip on her shoulder.

“Astria Silver Power!” Karei yelled out, hoping to transform so she could escape from him and this place.

    Nothing happened.

Ionite simply laughed as he reached into his pocket and produced Karei’s transformation brooch. “Looking for this? Sorry.. No transformations today..” He tossed the brooch over his shoulder, and it smashed apart as it hit the ground. “And now there’s nothing you can do.. you will reign next to me.”

Her eyes started to tear up. This couldn’t be how it ended, was it? No. It wasn’t. Her friends would come for her, she had faith in them. Thinking of them renewed her faith in herself. My friends won’t give up on me, I shouldn’t give up on myself…

“I will never be your empress, or rule with you, or whatever sick thing you have in mind,” Karei replied, the defiance and determination in her voice returning. “Astria Silver Power!”

A bright light suddenly consumed Karei, forcing Ionite to release her. It was so strong that he had to back away and shield his eyes.

“You didn’t really think that out power was contained in a piece of jewelery, did you?”

Ionite looked up at the voice: the light had died down, and where Karei stood now stood Sailor Astria.

I’m not sure if my car has suddenly been painted camouflage or something, but suddenly people have decided they want to plow right into me. 4 and a half times in the last three days have people almost slammed into my car when changing lanes (I say half because one guy noticed before he even got close, where the other 4 I had to slam my breaks and honk like crazy). Have people suddenly forgotten to shoulder check, or do their necks suddenly lock in place when my car gets near?

    sigh

Popular book JPOD. Once it went on sale, I was able to purchase and read it and see what the fuss was all about. …. And I LOVED IT!

So when I found out when the CBC was doing a tv show based on it, I had to watch. It was equally good. So if you get CBC, Tuesday, watch.

Though what happened to Evil Mark? And they must have timed it right for filming, because all the outside scenes there’s snow. We don’t get snow too often, so that would be a lot of fake snow.

    Oh well, it was good.

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, CreamSodaAngel).

So here we are, 2008. It’s funny, I’ve tried to write this post numerous times, and yet nothing seems to come out when I do. Ah the days when I could post on my blog with relative ease. Now it takes me so long to wrack my brain to come up with something worthwhile to post. Perhaps I’ve just lost interest in the whole blogging thing. Who knows.

    … Happy 2008..

I bought a new sweater. That was the excitement in my day today. 🙂

I do wish I’d remembered my camera today. The Coast mountains were covered in snow and frost, and the way the evening sun hit them made them look all pinkish. They were spectacular! I love living in BC.

  • SNOW!

(Originally published to my Livejournal, CreamSodaAngel)

Oh yes, it did indeed snow yesterday. I was quite excited for this. It wasn’t enough to go out and play in it however. This morning the majority melted, but it was fun to watch that fluffy white stuff coming down for a little while. This time last year we’d had lots of storms, and there was lots of snow on the ground (it was tough to get around in my little car!).

And now with all the Christmas lights out, tinkling all pretty in the night. I love this time of year 🙂

  • A case of the mental road block ish

(Originally published to my Livejournal, CreamsodaAngel).

Another one of the those days when I feel as thought I’ve hit a mental road block. I really hate those days. Especially days when I need that spring of creativity that’s ready to be tapped and used. I would just put this mental block down to being tired, because in all forms I feel tired. But am I really tired, or is it just in my mind? After all, I did sleep 10 hours last night…

My marathon of a semester is almost finished. I have some visual lab assignments and projects to finish up on (plan to go to campus and do this tomorrow, because I don’t have Illustrator or Final Cut), then my book marketing final, then my visual studies final project, then my take home exam, then my publishing in Canada final and then I’m done for the semester. Phew. It’s just going to be a marathon up until then.

I think it’s funny how I try to overextend myself sometimes. I expect myself to be so much, and yet I twitter away my time doing pointless things that contribute nothing to what I set out to do. Like today, I spent a few hours just sitting staring at the computer screen, hoping for someone to post on Federation Space because I had nothing better to do (well, I could have studied… but see my note about being tired and the mental block). I need to kick myself with some motivation.

… My chair is bugging me… it’s too low in comparison to my desk, and thus I don’t like it.

  • Loonie vs Greenback

(Originally published to my Livejournal, CreamSodaAngel).

I have a tendency to tease my American friends as of late, regarding the face that the Canadian dollar has currently surpassed their own American dollar. (As I am writing this, the Canadian dollar is trading at 1.071 USD). To me this is a very exciting fact, because in all my time on the planet our dollar hasn’t been anywhere close to this – it’s always been worth less than an American dollar. The reason why our dollar is so high, I honestly can’t say. I’m no business major, I can only guess to a number why this could be happening. But that doesn’t concern me right now.

So of course, our soaring dollar leads many Canadians to hop across the border for some quick shopping sprees due to our prices being higher than the Americans. Not that this hasn’t happened before. But now that our dollar is beating the US dollar, Canadians are starting to COMPLAIN about the fact our prices are higher. Whereas previously, they didn’t complain.

Excuse me? Even without a degree in business, I know how silly it is to complain. Of course our products cost more than that of Americans – they outnumber us! Their population at current is estimated to be 300 million, while ours is estimated at 33 million. This mean they have a much larger economy than ours, by sheer amount of people alone. In turn, this means that products that are available to us Canadians need to be priced higher to reflect our smaller production number (the larger amount of one item you make, the less you can charge for it).

So when people jump across the board to buy those new shoes or electronic gadget, they’re supporting the American economy allowing them to produce more products more cheaply, while our own suffers.

The solution? Suck it up and support your own economy suckas!

That’s not that I don’t agree to dropping the price some extent. Any import products from the United States could be dropped to reflect the rise in our dollar. But that’s a whole other can of worms.
