• Dorky writings from the Queen of the Dorks πŸ˜‰

Warning: Lots of Dorkiness withing (as if that wasn’t already assumed).

So I haven’t been keeping up my posting rate. Bad me. Oh well, I don’t have any excuses. Just being lazy for the most part. It’s been a typical week, so i don’t have a lot to say really anyway. Monday I worked on my publishing class and slogged through the Tourism class I’m taking. Then my Mom and I hit up a sidewalk sale at our mall. I got a bunch of new shirts, which is always nice, but much much much less than normal. I wouldn’t have bought anything, but really they were a steal. I got about $200 of clothing for less than $50. I’m sad, I know, but hey, I don’t need to buy any new shirts for a long time.

Tuesday I finished off the readings for my tourism class and started them for my Documentary Research class. I’m beginning to really enjoy my classes now, unlike I did in my first two years. I’m not sure what it is, if the classes get more enjoyable in Junior Year or if I’m just dedicating myself more. It’s curious. But alas.

Wednesday it snowed a little bit, but not enough to strand everyone, just enough that I had to go shovel it. Lazed about most of the day, which was good fun. Cleaned out my closet and the rest of my dresser drawers, pulling the items that I want to take to the lake or to donate to the hospice out. Much thinner closet now. Got to actually GO to my Documentary Research class (didn’t get to go last week from snow). Found out my friend Janet is in it too, and in my tutorial for it as well. We geeked it up a bit and talked about Star Trek and the goodness when there wasn’t any lecturing being done and such. Though she prefers TNG and VOY over ENT and DS9 like myself, but that’s usually the way it goes since TNG and VOY are more plot specific series, while ENT and DS9 are more character specific. Talked about the movies as well, however I haven’t seen most of the TOS ones, so I couldn’t offer much input (note to self: rent TOS movies). Though she brought up the Rath of Khan, which I’ve seen, and the goodness of the quote “KHAAAAAAAAAAN!”

    Yes I’m suck a geek πŸ˜‰

Yesterday I did my readings for Reseach Methods in Communications (is it sad that I LOVE this class, a RESEARCH methods class? If you had told me that 2 years ago, I would have laughed hysterically). Then I lazed about. Was asked by Paul if I wanted to participate in a little subplot with him on FedSpace, so I said yes and got to create this redheaded, flight instructor. We recruited Matt to join in as well. We had some good times. But my NPC kinda evolved and kept going, and has turned into more than a Temp NPC. So Jos (my ship’s Captain) kinda got mad at me that I didn’t ask him if I could run the NPC, but he’s so nice and easygoing that when I explained he was fine with it. He just didn’t want someone yelling at him and not know what the heck NPC they were talking about. Yesterday brought about my 200th FedSpace post as well, which isn’t really very much. Oh well, I was excited πŸ˜‰

And today I’m up on campus. Just my Research Methods class and tutorial. The prof went super fast through all the slides, so we were let out an hour early! Yay! Lots of notes for that class, which is fine by me because I’m a keener and love taking notes. My friend Greg showed up a 1/2 hour late and was shocked when I already had 2 pages for him to catch up on. Hee hee.

And um… so now I’m off to my tutorial, and then home to be lazy and such. Maybe I can track down Amy or someone (though I believe every has already said they’re working tonight) to watch a movie. Or if all else fails, just cuddle up with my blanket and have another ALIAS Marathon. I’m halfway through season 1 πŸ˜‰ Hmmm or maybe Paul and Matt are up for another round of marathon posting? Hmmmmm?

Gotta run to class, will catch up on all friends posts and comments when I get home.

    HUGS everyone!

…. yes it was a boring and utterly geeky post. If you made it through it all, you get and extra HUG!!!

…oh, and my feet are cold. Just thought I’d let ya know. πŸ˜‰

  • After eight years of faithful service…

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, Creamsodaangel)

…my Mickey Mouse watch has hit the bucket :'( I thought it was just the battery died again, but alas it isn’t. Apparenlty it’s the cogs and gears themselves. I’d either have to get them to replace the innards or get them to do a full service on it. Either way, I’d be paying almost as much as the watch costs. Which is depressing, because I love that watch so much.

Guess I’ll need to keep an eye out for a new one.

Decided I’m going to volunteer for the Bell CityChase again this year. I had so much fun last year, that I definitely doing it again. And I lucked out, the event happens before I go to Orlando πŸ˜€

Orlando, by the way, is only 4 months and 10 days until I go! Muahahaha.

Blech, Documentary Research today. How dull. πŸ˜›

We’re in for another snow storm. And this time it’s going to be during tomorrow morning commute.

Thank goodness I have no on campus classes tomorrow.

    Drive safe everyone.

  • why not put a streetcar up to SFU? Because a double length bus on an icy road is so much better πŸ˜‰

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, Creamsodaangel)

Mmm sleepy. Caught the bus 2 1/2 hours before class today, just in case everyone else had the same “lets take transit” idea as I did. Apparently not, and now I have an hour to kill. It’s very quiet here so early in the morning. If I have to take the bus again, I might just keep coming this early. However if I have to drive, it would be rush hour, so I’m sure it wouldn’t make much different.

Ran into my buddy Travis from highschool again today. Still crackin’ the sarcastic remarks. Oh wait, I did too. We discovered Translink’s secret formula that it’s executives use to make decisions: find the best possible idea and do the exact opposite, all while raising fares. See? I could be on the Translink board no problem! XD

Scouted out the ASSC (Arts & Social Sciences) building is when I got here, as my class was changed from Vancouver campus to ASSC here in Burnaby when the room was double booked. Do people realise it’s only half built? Curious, but I guess as long as the classroom is functional it’s all good. Though I didn’t realise that this class would be so small. At least, the room is fairly small. Guess we’ll see if there’s anyone I recognize from it.

Okay, off to see if I can purchase some more books now that the bookstore is open.

Until next time, keep fit and have fun!

… I’m sorry, I had to say it XD

  • news from the slug

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, Creamsodaangel)

So it’s been an interesting few weeks. Got sick from working way too much, for which I ended up sleeping for three days and being very sluggish. Went back to work for the weekend, and then the semester started. Did all the readings for my two distance ed classes done on Monday, so that left me with Tuesday, most of Wednesday, and all of today with nothing to do.

Yesterday I was supposed to have class at 430, except it snowed all day. And not just a little, when I went out to shovel the driveway the snow was up to my knees! Despite classes not being cancelled, my Mom told me not to go because there was so much snow here in Langley. Classes ended up getting cancelled at 5pm, and it was a good thing I didn’t go: buses stopped running. A friend of mine was even stuck up at SFU for a few hours until her dad managed to make it up the hill to get her. πŸ™

In other news I found out that I won’t be going to Vancouver campus this semester πŸ™‚ My lecture hall was double booked, so we ended up getting booted to the new Arts & Social Sciences building in Burnaby. Which means my tutorial also got moved to Burnaby, so now I don’t have to go all the way downtown on Tuesdays just for one measly hour! Yay πŸ˜€

In a strange and unusual phenomenon, I’ve found that everytime I go to buy new jeans I seem to go down a size. I’m not exactly sure if it’s a good thing (sounds like one) or not. But it’s certainly curious. But I have new jeans, so it’s all good πŸ˜‰

  • about to fall asleep….

    (Originally posted tomy Livejournal, Creamsodaaangel)

I’m pooped. I worked an 11 hour day today, of which I’ve never done before. I opened at 6, and Shelby was supposed to close. But her back was killing her, so I told her I would stay and close, which Tracey was okay with. So 11 hours it was, and my feet are killing me. I have a lot of respect for people who work 12 hour shifts on their feet! Phew.

Oh well, I’m always glad for the overtime.

Really too sleepy right now, would love a foot rub and some snuggling. Guess I’ll keep dreaming. πŸ˜‰

  • comfy couches, country music, and working away. hurrah!

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, Creamsodaangel)

You know, there’s nothing better than laying like a slug on the comfiest couch in the world infront of the fireplace, with a good book. Okay, so maybe that could use some cuddling, but still, without the cuddling it’s still a good spot to be. After work yesterday I went out to Point Roberts to our cabin and did exactly that. Ended up napping a little bit too, I was just too cozy! Helped Grandma re-upholster a chair that was there, and did a bit of grocery shopping for the cabin. At night Dad and I hauled a bit of wood for the fireplace and looked at the stars, but there were only a few visible, it being partially cloudy and the moon in 1st quarter and super bright. But my favourite part was just vedging on the chesterfield infront of the fireplace with my book, listening to country music.

Yes, I’ve been listening to country music a lot more recently. I used to listen to it quite a bit before, but just my favourites like the Dixie Chicks and Terri Clark. Now I’m listening to the radio a lot more. Guess that country streak I had in me back in grade 6 & 7 has come back from hibernation.

Today is workday 4/8. Four more to go, but at least today wasn’t another 6 am shift. Not that I mind those, because I get the afternoon, but I was getting pretty worn out between the holiday and working so much. I have a feeling it’s not going to be as quiet at work as it was the past two days, however, as we’re quickly approaching the new year!

Anyone have plans for New Years Eve? Lets see… oh yeah, I’m working πŸ˜›

  • incoherant rambles.. but then, what else is new?

(Originally posted to my livejournal, Creamsodaangel)

Christmas was good, as I hope it was for everyone out there. And if you don’t celebrate said holiday, I hope you’re having a good time right about now too. Was shocked to receive an art tablet, which is absolutely amazing (see the happy holidays image in the previous post. Was my first attempt using it). Loved seeing my family, as always. And had a big smile on my face, as per the norm, with lots of hugs.

Worked boxing day. Was crazy busy. One might have thought the grocery store I work at was suddenly selling laptops for $5 or something silly like that. And of course, despite not opening until 10am, customers came in believing that though the doors didn’t open until 10, the store was open at 7 and therefore should have been in a typical 10 am state. If that makes any sense.

Today, work was dead. Very scary dead. At least it gave me the chance to catch up on all the work that wasn’t done on Christmas Eve, and never got to do on Boxing Day. It actually looks like a bakery today.

However, Turkey Overload + Having to do 3 people’s jobs yesterday = tired Andrea. Got some sanity back today from the quietness. Gave Barbara a Merry Christmas hug. Got my free sandwich. Came home and sat a lot. Nice.

Not very coherent at current, due to tiredness. Ought to go to bed soon, as another 5 am morning tomorrow. Oh well. That is me for you.

    Day 2 / 8 working days done.

I seem to be writing in bits and pieces, no nice flowing ideas.

But I think I’m going to fall asleep.

… Will post nice tomorrow. And comment on journals, because that would be nice πŸ™‚

  • where did she dissapear off to??

(Originally posted to my Livejournal, Creamsodaaangel).

    Phew.

It’s been an interesting, very exhausting week. Working during this season often leads to that, what can I say? At any rate, I feel like I’ve just completed a marathon, which isn’t surprising considering one of the last things I did at work tonight was haul about half a skid of apple pie cases off said skid and onto a truck (since someone ingeniously thought that putting half a skid of apple pie on top of half a skid of pumpkin pie. Nice in thought, not in practice, not in this season anyway). Then I had to haul about 40 of those cases to the bakery, upon which I got to unload all those pies onto a cart. Involved much box opening.

Did I mention my hands are all cutup?

One of the joys of this time of year. Between the cold weather, going to a hot bakery, into a very cold freezer, working with way too much cardboard and sharp plastic, buns that like to scrape into your hands (yes, bread is lethal), and those lovely sharp racks we use, my hands look like a disaster. I think the worst is a nice big slash across my right palm from one of our chrome racks that decided to slice my hand. Not too deep, but definitely a pain.

At any rate, I don’t have to work again until Boxing Day. Shocking, eh? That Andrea not only gets a day off, but THREE in a row, and Christmas Eve to boot! Yay! I didn’t ask for it, but it was Karen’s Christmas Gift to me. I gave her a big hug in return. πŸ™‚ Oh, and lots of pies unboxed.
